Ok, so it's been way too long since I've written in here. I was on vacation for 3 weeks in the south. I went to watch my little sister graduate Wharton High School, before venturing off to New Orleans, Douglasville, Manchester, TN for Bonnaroo, and lastly Nashville.
I have so many updates. I was published two more times on Though Catalog and have a loooot more to come. I have brainstormed about 20 different article ideas to be published on multiple platforms, so I will be sharing those when they are good and ready. (by the way, if you want to keep up with my published work you can visit meghanlogan.pressfolios.com to view my writers portfolio)
OK so, my trip! Florida was so nice to be in again. I hadn't been to Tampa for two years. My mom had no idea I was coming, she thought I was camping in Yosemite which would account for my unresponsiveness while I was flying. I hid in the closet, and got to come out, again (hehe). She was shooooocked. Of course we celebrated by going to Taco Hell. It was so much fun being able to hang with my sisters and my dog. We went swimming a ton, hung out at St. Pete beach, and spent rainy days watching the Kardashians. After about a week in Tampa, I headed out to New Orleans where my best friend Luke met up with us.
My mom drove me and my little sister Cassie and stayed with us in our AirBnb which ended up being in the ghetto of New Orleans. Even the locals told us not to walk around outside our place too much, so we spent almost all our time in the french quarter, even though it rained the entire time. Luke, Cassie, my mom, and I did all kinds of shit. Drank. Partied. Ghost tours. SLEEP. Eat everything. and also took my little sister to a strip club for the first time. which by the way, the strippers were sad and lazy. Strip clubs always make me sad. Like are you working to feed your children? Do you have some hidden life? or do you do it cause you want to, which is totally cool then.
After New Orleans we all went to visit my grandma and cousins in Douglasville which was an unexpcted leg of the trip and ended up being my favorite. I got to go exploring with my cousins and we played lots of card games. I haven't been around family in so long I almost forgot how amazing it is. My grandma is still battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer, but she is doing well and staying strong. Strong enough to cook us an amaaaazing southern home cookin' dinner. :)
OK BONNAROO. it was INSANE. first of all I saw Ellie Goulding. FUCK MY LIFE IT WAS AMAZING. I was like speechless the entire time. I saw Halsey live, who brought out St. Lucia and they did a cover of Fleetwood Mac. WHAT. I saw m83 kill it, St Lucia, Boy and Bear, Civil Twilight, Pearl Jam, LCD Soundsystem, Lola Wolf, Andra Day, Ellie, J Cole, Misterwives, Tame Impala, CHAINSMOKERS MY LAWWWD kil't it. and many many more. The only downside was, it was hot as fuck. camping there, is an insane idea and i will never do it again. Definitely getting a hotel this time with AC. It was really cold at night and then you wake up around 7am when the sun is out to a boiling hot sauna tent. The music goes until 3am, and some of the park is 24 hours, so all night you hear a very loud *boom, boom, boom*. You practically never sleep, so the only quiet hours were in the morning, but it was wayyyy too hot. So we basically just got out of the tent, walked inside the park, and tried to sleep under a shaded tree. But the bugs wouldn't let us (: so there was that.
Overall it was an unforgettable experience, however I dont think my sister ever wants to go back, despite how magical it truly was. (the Christmas barn party was amazing).
I am going to an anti rape event tonight to write letters and attempt overturning Brock Turners judge. That kid needs to be punished for his crimes. but I'm glad we are coming together as a community to try and make a difference.
